Spring Quarter 2017: Study Abroad Program

This program, offered jointly with Universidad Latina de Costa Rica, provides students with the opportunity to learn about sports in Latin America and their strategic importance for the development of the region. In addition, students will improve their Spanish language skills through language courses at different levels and community work in a Spanish-speaking environment.

Sports, Spanish, and Comunity Engagement in Costa Rica ICDS


  • Sport and cultural activities
  • Access to local sports clubs (basketball, volleyball, tennis, soccer, etc) to keep up training
  • Service-learning core course with two weekly sessions of community work
  • Language and cultural immersion


  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Completion of basic level(s) of college Spanish or equivalent

Lodging Modality

  • Homestays with carefully selected local families.
